Japanese Ambassador Commends Child Protection Initiatives and Pledges Continued Support Following His Visit

The Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Kiminori Iwama, visited Save the Children’s child protection initiatives in Jaliapalong Union of Ukhiya Upazila, Cox’s Bazar district. This program is jointly managed by the Department of Social Services under the Government of Bangladesh and Save the Children. Funded by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ‘Child Protection System Strengthening in Cox’s Bazar District’ project aims to safeguard vulnerable children in the region.

During his visit, the Ambassador visited one of the child protection centers and discussed child protection with the Nitaniya Butterfly Ananda Adolescent Club. Save the Children supports the club, which is crucial to the community. The Ambassador asked adolescents about their motivation in ensuring child protection, to which they unanimously replied, ‘Our safety and securing a future is guaranteed if we can ensure the well-being of every child in our community.’
The Ambassador was grateful for their dedication and remarked, ‘We must all come forward to build a brighter future for children. The Government of Japan will continue to support this vital mission.’

Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of the Child Protection Unit at Save the Children, thanked the Japanese Ambassador for his visit and expressed deep appreciation for the Government of Japan's ongoing support. He expressed hope that this partnership will continue contributing to similar future initiatives.
